Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons

The Southeastern Society is widely viewed as the preeminent regional plastic surgery society in the country. Yet any organization is only as good as its members. New members bring fresh ideas and increased energy to the Society and are thus vital to its continued success.

HD PLAN-IT was selected by SESPRS in 2013 to begin managing their Society. We promptly set to work to improve their Society. We created a new modern website with integrated member features and dues processing.

Along with new web features, we brought in a revolutionary way for SESPRS to present their annual symposia. Live broadcasting with live surgery coverage broadcast directly from cooperating hospitals. We worked closely with surgeons and event staff to showcase each Surgeons skill and cultivate an atmosphere of progress and academic progress.

The Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons was established in 1958 by pioneers of plastic surgery and continues today as the premier regional society of plastic surgery. The society has a strong commitment to innovation and research. It is an assemblage of like-minded surgeons who are devoted to life long learning, education, and research. They are also devoted to their patients, families, friends, and colleagues. The SESPRS is one of the few societies where the playing ground is level, no matter your training, skill or experience.

Today board certified/board eligible plastic surgeon-members represent eleven Southeastern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, as well as Puerto Rico.

The Southeastern Society has grown to a group of more than 600 plastic surgeons. This unique group of plastic surgeons leave their egos at the door in favor of a collegial attitude of give and take. Innovative, intelligent, and informed discussions are the cornerstone of our Society.

The Southeastern Society hosts 3 meetings each year. The annual scientific meeting is held in June and spotlights member and resident abstracts and "hot topics" in the field of plastic surgery. The Annual Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium and The SESPRS/ISAPS Periorbital and Facial Symposium, held annually in January in Atlanta, hosts leaders in the field of plastic surgery from around the world with the objective to learn on a global scale. In addition to highlighting the latest advancements in a wide range of plastic and reconstructive surgery issues, these seminars stimulate socialization among colleagues. The bonds that are created extend to our families in a warm and inclusive environment.

The Society continues to recognize outstanding members and residents in plastic surgery with several annual awards. These credits include: the Sam Upchurch Educational Fund supporting the Upchurch Lecture annually, which is presented by giants in the field of plastic surgery, the General Alfred Robinson Glancy Award given to the winner of the annual resident competition and their residency program, and the John Bostwick Award is given annually for original research topics in breast surgery. Unlike the previous citations, the Kenneth Pickrell Award for teaching excellence and The Special Achievement Award are given to a member, when warranted, for outstanding contributions. The Carl Hartrampf Chair Fund was completed in 2019 and was funded to advance surgical skill and knowledge through the University of North Carolina, Dr. Hartrampf's alma mater.
